After evaluating numerous prototype configurations and applying our decades of experience with both metal fabrication and polyurethane manufacturing, STILLEN developed a high-performance air intake capable of delivering an additional 25 horsepower and 31 lb-ft of torque on the Kia Stinger GT. The development process began with a thorough inspection of the factory intake tract, including measurements of intake tube dimensions, factory couplers, turbine housing inlets, and OEM filter surface area.

Engineering and Design

From that baseline, STILLEN's engineering and fabrication team produced a pair of 3-inch mandrel bent aluminum intake tubes that create a smooth, unobstructed airflow path from the air filters directly into the twin turbine housings. The mandrel bending process ensures the tubing maintains a consistent interior diameter through each bend, eliminating the flow restrictions that standard crush-bent tubing can introduce.

The intake increases filter surface area by more than 50 percent compared to the factory unit, improving the efficiency of the intake tract and making it easier for the turbos to draw the airflow they need to build boost. A set of custom polyurethane heat shields complete the system by blocking hot engine bay air from entering the intake tract, helping maintain lower intake air temperatures for consistent performance. Real-World Durability Testing

STILLEN was not willing to release this intake until it had proven itself in extended real-world use. We partnered with a local Stinger GT owner who drives long distances regularly and logged over 5,000 test miles with the intake installed. Here is what he had to say after a trip through Phoenix, Sedona, and the Grand Canyon:

"I went on another trip to Phoenix, Sedona, Grand Canyon with the Kia Stinger. Stock, I would get 26 mpg at best on the highway. On this trip, I logged 32.1 mpg at 90 mph, and I got 31.9 mpg at 80 mph with the intake and tune. That is a 6 mpg improvement on long range driving. When I filled up with gas, I got 375 miles on a tank, versus the usual 300 to 330 miles depending on my driving habits. This was done in sport mode, which is all I ever use. P.S. I love the intakes, especially when boost hits. If I am next to someone and they hear the intakes, most of the time they will not pull up next to me. Very intimidating turbo sound. And it holds up great in the 107-degree Arizona heat."
