Does Affirm perform a credit check?
Affirm does a credit check to verify your identity and provide you with a financing offer when you sign up. This is a 'soft' credit check and will not impact your credit score. If you choose to complete a purchase and finance it with Affirm, Affirm will do a single 'hard' credit check when your first order is processed by the merchant. This may have a minor impact on your credit score. For future purchases with Affirm, they won't need to check your credit again.
Why was I prompted to pay a down payment with a debit card?
Affirm tries hard to approve every purchase but sometimes can't approve the full amount. When this happens, they provide a debit card down payment option so that you may still complete your purchase right away.
Why was I prompted for a checking account?
Affirm sometimes requires additional information to consider a credit application. Such information may include an active checking account, which helps Affirm verify your identity and your ability to repay the requested loan. If Affirm prompts you for this information but you are unable to provide it, Affirm will be unable to approve your credit application.
Why was my purchase with Affirm not approved?
While Affirm strives to offer all creditworthy applicants financing, they simply aren't able to approve every loan application. If Affirm is unable to approve your application, they will immediately notify you of their decision and denial reason via a secured message.
Why is my Affirm loan still being processed?
Your loan will be in a "Merchant Processing Order" state while STILLEN finalizes your purchase. Affirm will let you know when your purchase has been finalized and your first bill is due. To view the status of your Affirm loan(s), please visit your Affirm account at www.affirm.com/account.
