After more than three decades building performance exhaust systems, our team has learned there's no shortcut or formula for getting an exhaust mod right. The answer turned out to be hiding in plain sight: the same twin-turbo V6 Nissan GT-R favors a dual-into-single-back-to-dual layout, and testing confirmed the Infiniti Q60's VR30DDTT responds the same way. The finished [performance exhaust system](https://www.stillen.com/performance/exhaust-systems/vehicle/2017-infiniti-q60.html) routes exhaust through a 2.5" Y-pipe into a 3" mid-pipe, which carries gases to the rear of the vehicle before splitting back into a 2.5" dual rear exit. From there, exhaust flows through mufflers engineered and manufactured in-house by [STILLEN](https://www.stillen.com/). Dialing in the right exhaust note proved to be one of the toughest parts of this build — turbocharged engines like the VR30DDTT naturally act as their own muffler, which tends to choke out aftermarket exhaust tone. Off-the-shelf mufflers couldn't strike the right balance between too loud and too quiet, so [STILLEN](https://www.stillen.com/) developed a muffler built specifically for this platform.
